Xiaomi has released a new amazing router
Xiaomi's
press conference in Beijing had some interesting gadgets to show the world. Two
of the most interesting gadgets were the new Mi Wi-Fi and Yeelight (a smart
bedside lamp) Coming first to the new Mi Wi-Fi. Xiaomi had already had some
success with its original Mi router which sold two million units. Building on
this success, the next generation seeks to take Xiaomi to new heights of
success.
The new generation Mi Wi-Fi offers faster and more stable dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi support. It is equipped with an "enterprise-class" PBC antenna array backed by the powerful 1.4 GHz Dual Core Broadcom 4709C processor coupled with 512 MB of flash storage. On-board storage is also promised thanks to Seagate or Toshiba monitoring. You have the option of using it either as a simple NAS or in tandem with Xiaomi's proprietary tools which offer remote downloads, automatic backups, remote file access, and many other features which have been appreciated by customers of the current generation of Xiaomi routers.
Next Generation of Mi Wi-fi Router
There
are two models available for the newest Mi Wi-fi routers (next generation). The
one with 1TB of storage is priced at CNY699 ($115), while the 6TB of storage
will cost you CNY2999 ($485). Xiaomi has also launched a range of accessories
to complement its new Mi Wi-fi router. The Xiaomi Wi-Fi Magnifier is a compact
Wi-Fi extender and the price is CNY 39 ($6). Yeelight, an elegant nightstand
lamp, has also been introduced by Xiaomi.
It
can be easily programmed to allow users to control or change the light intensity,
temperature, and even color. This is all done via touch controls on the light
itself and can even be done via Bluetooth through a dedicated app. Yeelight is
priced at CNY 249 ($40).
