Hotels in the region experience a spike in workload and prices during the holiday season, according to Guliyev.

Our citizens mainly rested inside the country after the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as visited the northern areas for the New Year holidays - Guba, Gusar, Shaki, Gakh, Zagatala, and Balakan districts. In these districts, hotel occupancy during the holidays is high,” he said.

“As a result of the closure of the land borders, the main reason is that the border has been closed. Before the pandemic, budget tourists could travel to Georgia, Russia, and Turkey by bus."

From December 30 to January 3, the expert noted, daily prices reached 400 Manats (235.3 dollars) in five-star hotels in Guba and Gusar districts.

The charge for a four-star hotel ranges from 100 Manats ($58.8) to 150 Manats ($88.2) per person daily for hotels in Shaki, Gakh, Zagatala, and Balakan. Hotels in Gabala charge between 250 and 400 Manats for five-star rooms and hotels with four rooms charge between 150 and 250 Manats...”

“In the southern region, five-star hotels charge 150 to 200 Manats for the New Year holidays, while four-star hotels charge 70 to 150 Manats,” he added, noting the price could increase further.
