In March this year, the UK government decided to lift all of the country's travel restrictions, following the rollout of its vaccination program. Many other countries have also lifted their travel restrictions, meaning those traveling from the UK have not had to carry COVID documents or provide a negative test on arrival.

Canada is the latest country to end its travel restrictions. From Saturday, October 1, those departing from places such as Heathrow Airport will no longer need to adhere to various COVID -related travel restrictions.

On September 26, the Public Health Agency of Canada announced that the government would remove all existing travel restrictions. She explained that this decision was facilitated by many factors.

The government made the decision based on data that suggests Canada is well past the Omicron BA.4 peak and now has very high vaccination rates. According to the government, the country also has low hospitalization and death rates.

From October 1, 2022, travelers will no longer have to do this; submit public health information via the ArriveCAN app, provide proof of vaccination, undergo pre, and on-arrival testing, perform Covid-19-related quarantine, and monitor and report if they develop symptoms of COVID 19 Along with the removal of these travel requirements, people in Canada will no longer have to undergo on-train health checks or wear masks on planes or trains.

Additionally, travelers who entered Canada in the 14 days before October 1, 2022, will not need to complete the remainder of their quarantine or submit to their testing requirements. "We are at a point where we can safely lift sanitary measures at the border in large part due to Canadians who took the time to get vaccinated," said Minister of Health Jean-Yves Duclos.

"I urge all individuals to stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccination, including booster doses, and to take personal steps to prevent COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses during these cold months."
