Explore the world with Google Insights
On World Tourism Day, Google announced the launch of two free tools to help the travel industry in the Middle East and North Africa identify timely travel demands. The tools are launched on the "Travel Insights with Google" website which includes two new tools available in English and Arabic; Destination information and hotel information.
According to Google Trends, Saudi Internet users have searched many countries over the past 8 months, including Azerbaijan, Egypt, Georgia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom (London in particular). Additionally, searches from Saudi Arabia to book tickets this year have increased by 153% compared to the previous year. In the United Arab Emirates, according to Google Trends, people searched for local entertainment destinations over the past eight months, including the Dubai Fountain and Dubai Butterfly Garden, as well as locally located hotels in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, searches from the UAE for ticket prices increased by 122% over the previous year.
By leveraging these tools, companies in the travel and tourism industry can uncover insights to reach travelers around the world,
whether they are departing or arriving in the MENA region, at every stage of
their journey, from a dream from their next travel destination to booking flights and hotels.
Destination Information
The Destination Insights tool will give travel companies,
governments, and tourism boards a clear picture of the main sources of demand
for a destination and the destinations in their countries that travelers most
want to visit. It also allows businesses to explore how tourism demand has
changed compared to demand in previous months or years and adjust marketing
campaigns accordingly.
Hotel Information
Millions of people search for hotels every day on Google,
generating immense insights into local interests in hotels and the process
travelers go through. Small hotels and independent hotels can now access the
Hotel Insights tool to gain in-depth insight into traveler interest in their
property, understand where interest is coming from and how to attract new
guests by building a presence stronger digital.
Several recent studies predict that travel and tourism will
grow in the Middle East to $246 billion in 2022. From our ongoing conversations
with travel partners in the region, we have learned that timely information is
very much needed by the travel industry at this time, especially with many
local and regional events coming up. That's why we're excited to offer a new
information portal for the region's travel and tourism industry, to help
businesses reach regular and new travelers alike,” said Anthony Nakache, the
Middle East and North Africa Managing Director for Google.
The “Travel Insights with Google” website, which includes
the recently launched free tools, is now available to all businesses in the
MENA region. Google will continue to develop technology-driven tools that will
help businesses in the travel and tourism industry engage with more travelers
and grow in a sustainable way.
